The souped-up 2020
Ford Focus ST
is one of the top cars for race car-inspired driving, and you’re right—its roots go back much further. The first Ford Focus ST came out in 2005 as part of the Focus’s second generation of vehicles.While handling and style were much improved and essentially a sports version of the Focus ZX4, the new engine was the most significant upgrade. With a Volvo-built, 225-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, the Focus ST could ramp up from 0 to 60 in just 6.4 seconds. Further iterations of the vehicle saw a downgrade to a 2.3-liter four-cylinder with 151 ponies, but handling and performance were still the source of great praise from fans and critics.
