What type of gas does a Lexus use?

I’ve never owned a luxury car before and bought a Lexus. I’ve heard that some luxury cars need premium gas, so I want to be sure I’m using the right kind. What type of gas does a Lexus use?

The type of gas a Lexus uses depends on your
Lexus
model. Here’s a breakdown of what kind of gas the
Lexus
lineup uses:
For sedans:
  • ES (regular or hybrid): 87 octane (regular fuel)
  • IS, GS, or LS: 91 octane (premium fuel)
For SUVs:
  • UX (regular or hybrid), RX, and NX Hybrid: 87 octane (regular fuel)
  • NX, RX hybrid, GX, and LX: 91 octane (premium fuel)
In general, most new vehicles are designed to run on regular (87 octane) fuel, but to enhance vehicle and engine performance, some manufacturers will suggest using premium gas.
If you’re not sure which type of gas your Lexus requires, check out your owner’s manual to confirm.
Key Information: If you
accidentally put premium gas in your car
and it doesn’t need it, there’s good news—you’ll only damage your wallet! Premium gas can help your vehicle run better, but it won’t damage any components.
