Does home insurance cover a car that was damaged while parked in front of my house?

I parked my car in my driveway last night. This morning, I woke up to find that the rear bumper was dented. I have no idea how this happened; I suspect one of my neighbors or a passerby accidentally hit my car. Will my home insurance cover this damage?

In most cases, your homeowners insurance is not going to cover a vehicle that is damaged while it’s parked in front of your house. That coverage would fall under the auto insurance policy for the vehicle. The only time your homeowners insurance might offer coverage is if the car does not belong to you and the owner finds you to be liable for damages in some way.
