What kind of oil does a 2013 Chevy Malibu take?

Help! My parents asked me to change the oil in their car, but I have no idea what to put in it. Can you tell me what kind of oil a 2013 Chevy Malibu takes?

  • A Malibu with a 2.4L or a 2.0L engine takes SAE 5W-30 engine oil
  • A Malibu with a 2.5L engine takes SAE 5W-20 engine oil
Synthetic oil should be changed every 7,500 to 10,000 miles, while conventional oil should be changed every 3,000 to 5,000.
Changing the oil is a fairly straightforward process that most people can complete on their own. However, if you don’t feel comfortable, you can go to an oil change shop for just a few dollars more.
