The 2010 Honda Accord takes 4.2-4.5 quarts of SAE 5W-20 motor oil. Honda manufacturers say that conventional or synthetic oils will both work, as long as you get the oil changed as appropriate.
Accord models made in 2011 and after require synthetic oil, but your 2010 can use either. Here is a quick look at the difference:
Conventional oil
needs to be changed around every 3,000 miles
is refined from crude oil,
is less expensive, and
can offer more protection to older engines because it flows slower than synthetic oils.
**Synthetic oil **
needs to be changed every 7,500-10,000 miles
is man-made to replicate conventional oil with fewer impurities
flows quickly and easily through your engine, even when it’s cold
provides better protection against corrosion, rust, and build-up/sludge
Synthetic blends
use a conventional oil base
adds synthetic oils that give better protection to your engine
burns cleaner than conventional oil, but flows slower than full synthetics.
