Does the 2004 Honda Accord have a timing belt?
My partner and I were talking about different cars we used to drive. One of my old cars was a 2004 Honda Accord. He mentioned something about it being nice that they had timing chains in those models, but I was pretty sure mine had a belt—they didn’t believe me! Does the 2004 Honda Accord have a timing belt?

Well, you’re both not technically wrong! Whether a 2004 Honda Accord would have a timing chain rather than a timing belt depends on what kind of engine it had. The Accords from 2003 to 2007 with a V6 engine have timing belts, while the 4-cylinder engine models have timing chains.
What’s the difference between them? Timing chains tend to be more durable than rubber timing belts. While timing belts are usually expected to require replacement at least once between 60,000 and 100,000 miles, timing chains can last the life of the vehicle with proper maintenance, like regular oil changes.
