What kind of gas does a Honda Civic take?

I’m borrowing my girlfriend’s Honda Civic to visit family out of state, but I forgot to ask her what type of fuel it uses—I don’t have service to call her so I thought I’d ask here. What kind of gas does a Honda Civic take?

Generally speaking, the kind of gas a
Honda Civic
takes is any unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. However, Honda suggests you use a fuel with an octane rating of at least 91 for peak performance.
If you’re looking for specifics,
Honda
recommends TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline if it is available, but any unleaded gasoline with an octane rating over 87 should suffice. Never use fuel that contains more than 15% ethanol in your Civic.
Using the wrong type of fuel in your vehicle can result in diminished fuel efficiency and may even damage your engine. For that reason, always consult your owner’s manual for the manufacturer’s recommendations if you are unsure which fuel to use.
