I’m headed out on a road trip, and I’m going to spend a substantial amount of time in Virginia. I want to make sure I don’t get a speeding ticket, as I’ve had a few in the past year or so. What’s the speed limit in Virginia?

speed limit is 70 mph maximum, but only on the interstate. However, Virginia is one of the rare states that employs a variable speed limit. This means that the speed limit signs are electronic and can change based on traffic and weather.Outside of the interstate system, Virginia speed limits are as follows:
- 55 mph on state highways, U.S. highways, and county highways unless posted
- 35 mph on unpaved roads
