Recently, I bought a high-mileage, used Ford Explorer for a work SUV (I will be towing a utility trailer). It runs great, but needs new rims and tires. I’d like to get some practical rims, but ones that will last. What is the size and cost of rims for a Ford Explorer Limited?

Stock rims for Ford Explorers start at around $75/rim for steel rims (without tires and installation).Since you’ll be hauling a trailer, you probably want to buy the strongest rims for the money. Here is an overview of your choices.
Rim materials:
- Steel. This is the least expensive rim material. Sturdy and heavy, they last a long time and usually can be repaired easily.
- Alloy. Made of an alloy of lighter metals such as aluminum, alloy wheels are lighter and come in a wide variety of styles. Alloys are the most common rim materials.
