What is the Florida blood alcohol limit?

My friends and I are going on a trip to Miami for a little bit of bar hopping. However, we plan on driving to the Keys the next day. I just want to make sure I’m not playing with fire—what’s the blood alcohol limit in Florida?

While you should never drink and drive, getting behind the wheel the next day is a bit of a gray area. So if you’re considering a trip the next day, note that the
Florida
blood alcohol limit is .08 or 80 mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood. The state also has enhanced penalties for blood alcohol content over .15.
If you exceed the .08 limit, you could face the following penalties in Florida:
  • Up to six months in jail
  • Fines between $500 and $2,000, not including court costs
  • License suspension
between 180 days and one year
  • Required ignition interlock (breathalyzer) system that you have to install on your own dime
Whether you blow a .08 or a .15, you’re going to see an astronomical increase in your
car insurance
rates. Insurance companies view DUIs as a huge increase in risk, which is subsequently reflected in your car insurance rates. Avoid these issues and keep yourself and others safe by choosing not to drink and drive.
