What is the fear of driving called?

I’m about to turn 18 and I still don’t have my driver’s license. I nearly got into an accident the very first time I practiced driving on a road, and now I have a crippling fear of driving. Is there a specific name for a fear of driving?

The fear of driving can be called several different names: amaxophobia, vehophobia, ochophobia, motorphobia, or hamaxophobia. A fear of driving includes a general phobia of driving, as well as specific conditions, like driving at high speeds, changing lanes, merging, driving at night, or driving in the rain.
Driving phobias can be caused by anything from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) to traumatic

, and they can cause major disruptions in your life—even affecting your health long-term. Luckily, treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) have been shown to be effective for conquering this fear.
