What is the 2006 Mazda 6 oil type?

My 2006 Mazda 6 is due for an oil change in less than 200 miles. I usually take it to a mechanic, but I want to do it myself with costs increasing. What oil do I need to buy?

For a 2006
Mazda 6
, you’ll need to purchase Mobil 1 Extended Performance Synthetic 5W-20 Motor Oil—or any other synthetic 5W-20 viscosity. While your Mazda can use conventional oil, synthetic oil promotes better engine performance and fuel economy.
If you’re closing in on the 10,000-mile mark, you may also want to consider the following:
  • Replace engine oil and filter
  • Inspect brake and clutch fluid, washer fluid, and coolant levels
  • Inspect air filter
  • Check function of all lights
  • Inspect all tires (inflation and wear)
  • Lubricate all locks and hinges
  • Rotate tires
