I’ll be moving to Washington state soon for work, and I’m not sure how people drive there. What would be considered reckless driving there?

Moving to a different state is such a big step and we hope your move goes smoothly! In Washington state, reckless driving is defined as the willful or wanton disregard for the safety of the public and properties. It is considered a gross misdemeanor, and drivers who are convicted will face a maximum of one year in jail and a $5,000 fine.
Reckless driving includes the following:
  • Driving 25+ mph over the posted speed limit
  • Trying to escape law enforcement
  • Unsafely crossing over to the left of center to pass a vehicle
  • Street or public highway racing
Since you are moving to another state, you will be required to update or switch to a new car insurance policy.
