home insurance policy
. Generally, blanket insurance differs from other types of insurance because a single coverage limit applies to anything that falls under that blanket of coverage, as long as everything belongs to the same owner. Additionally, blanket coverage home insurance is a property insurance policy that can:
- Cover more than one type of property at the same location
- Cover the same type of property at multiple locations
- Cover multiple kinds of property at multiple locations
Blanket coverage is preferred by those who own multiple properties because there are fewer hoops to jump through when making claims. Unlike a standard policy, there are no sub-limits, such as jewelry coverage up to $1,500.
Overall, blanket insurance coverage is more inclusive. However, if you only need to increase the coverage limits on a few items, like your jewelry collection, it may be easier to maintain individual policies and add riders or endorsements as necessary.
