What is a turnabout in driving?

I’ll be doing my driving test soon and I’ll supposedly be tested on doing a turnabout. I think it’s also called a three-point turn. What’s a turnabout or three-point turn?

You’re right, a turnabout in driving is just another name for a three-point turn. This maneuver is used to turn around on narrow roads when a U-turn would be too difficult.
To do a turnabout,
check the traffic
carefully and then follow these steps:
  • Step 1: Turn on your right turn signal and slow down. Pull as close as possible to the curb and make a complete stop.
  • Step 2: Signal left and wait until the traffic is clear in both directions—and will remain clear for at least 20-30 seconds.
  • Step 3: Make a left turn with your vehicle to face the curb on the other side of the road.
  • Step 4: Turn on your right signal when you are on the other side of the road and check that the traffic is still clear.
  • Step 5: Turn your wheel as far right as possible and reverse your vehicle. Stop when you reach a foot before the curb.
  • Step 6: Check the traffic again, turn your wheel back to the center (or slightly left) to drive forward the opposite direction you began.
Don’t forget to start looking for car insurance so that you’re ready to drive off into the sunset once you pass your driving test. You won’t have to fill out long forms or make time-consuming phone calls if you go to
