oil type is 5W-30. Specifically, GMC recommends Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W-30 Full Synthetic Motor Oil.Now, there are a few things you should know about your Acadia’s oil situation in case you have issues in

deep, dark woods—namely, the type of oil your Acadia needs, the frequency to change your oil, and the signs your oil needs to be changed.The 5W-30 motor oil your GMC Acadia needs works well in both freezing cold and stiflingly hot temperatures. Both the 5 and 30 refer to the oil’s thickness, or viscosity. The 5 means the oil stays thin at really cold temperatures, and the W means winter. The 30 tells you that the oil stays thin and flows at hot temperatures too.
Using synthetic motor oil is easier on your engine, as it contains higher-quality additives than standard motor oil. This means you’ll have to change your oil less often, about every 7,500 to 10,000 miles.
Before you head out on your Michigan camping trip, check your oil. It should be amber or light brown and have a smooth consistency. If your oil color is either black or dark brown or you smell burning oil or see smoke coming from your engine, those are signs you’re due for an oil change!
