What happens if I get a ticket with my learner's permit in Montana?

I recently got my permit. I was pulled over the other day for not wearing a seatbelt. The officer gave me a warning, but I'm wondering what could happen? Would I still be able to get my driver's license?

Answer
“Montana has specific driving rules and regulations for teen drivers. Since you recently got your permit, you are still in step one of the driver training program.
In step one, you won’t be allowed to get your restricted license if:
  • You have fewer than 50 hours of supervised practice
  • A seat belt violation
  • A traffic violation
  • An alcohol/drug violation
Since you were pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt, you got lucky! If the police officer had written you a ticket, you wouldn’t have been able to get your restricted license. You may have had to complete community service hours as well.
As a new driver, it’s very important to drive as carefully as possible and follow all the rules of the road. Getting tickets as a new driver not only can impact getting your license, but it can also impact your future car insurance rates.
Tickets, accidents, and violations are all factors insurance companies look at when determining a rate. Age and driving experience are also factors. If you are inexperienced and don’t have a clean record, it will be difficult to find affordable car insurance. Driving can be hard at first, so it’s important to take your time and follow all the safety rules and guidelines. If you don’t, you risk injuring yourself and others.
And as a permit driver, it’s never too soon to start thinking about your car insurance, especially if you have to pay for it yourself. Use the Jerry app to compare quotes from over 50 top insurers and formulate a budget to get ready for being legally behind the wheel!”
