What does it mean to winterize your vehicle?

What does winterizing mean and do I need to do it? I'm driving to school in Vermont from Georgia and I keep hearing about winterizing my car. I have a Honda CR-V.

“Winterizing your vehicle simply means preparing it for the snow, ice, and cold weather.
If you don’t have four-wheel drive, there are some important steps you can take to make sure your car stays in good shape and is safe to drive during the winter.
First, you may want to consider purchasing winter tires, which will not only provide better traction but may also give you or your parents a discount on car insurance. Once in the cold weather, you should check your tire pressure regularly.
A coat of polymer wax can also help protect against salt, sleet, and grime since the roads tend to be messier in the winter.
Moving is a great time to shop for car insurance. Jerry can help you compare rates from the top companies in under a minute.”
