certified pre-owned warranty covers the costs of breakdowns and mechanical malfunctions that are the result of a factory defect or poor workmanship, although the coverage is a little complicated. The automaker offers three separate warranties for their used cars that depend on the vehicle’s model year and the type of engine it has. Here’s how it breaks down:- If you buy a car from the 2017 model year or older, you get a two-year/24,000-mile limited warranty.
- If you buy a car from the 2018 model year or newer, you get a one-year/12,000-mile limited warranty that picks up after the original factory warranty expires.
- If you buy a used car from any model year that has Volkswagen’s turbocharged direct injection (TDI) engine, you get a two-year/unlimited mileage warranty that goes into effect once the original factory warranty expires.
