What do I do if my Toyota RAV4 ran out of gas on the side of the highway?

I'm stuck on a (relatively rural) highway and my RAV4 ran out of fuel. What should I do?

“If your car has run out of gas on the side of the road, your best option is to see if you have a roadside assistance plan included with your
car insurance
 policy.
If you have a membership to
AAA
, you automatically have roadside assistance. Roadside assistance will help either bring fuel to your vehicle or tow it to a location where you can refuel.
If you don’t have roadside assistance, you could call a local towing company to move your vehicle to a safer location.
If you are in danger due to your location or the weather, you can call the local police and they may be able to help.”
