What do driving examiners look for on a driving test?

I’m pretty excited about my upcoming driving test, but I’m also nervous about the examiner. I picture a crotchety old guy analyzing my every move. So to put my mind at ease, what exactly are driving examiners looking for on a driving test?

While one could see your point of view of an ornery old man based on stereotypes, driving examiners are every bit as friendly as any other teacher you’ve had. It’s best to put that image out of your mind.
If you want to know what driving examiners look for on a driving test, here are a few examples:
  • Getting yourself set up for the drive by adjusting mirrors, adjusting your seat, and putting on your seat belt
  • Making sure you follow the rules of the road, such as following traffic signs or obeying
    speed limits
  • Using your mirrors properly and glancing at them every seven seconds or so
  • Accelerating and braking calmly and slowly
  • Checking your level of confidence
  • Knowing the names of the various parts of the vehicle
If you can stay calm and remember your training and education, you should have no problem passing your driving test! But before you get behind the wheel, download the
