What are the best places to live in Washington?

So I’m moving the family to Washington, D.C. as I just took a new job at the C.I.—I mean, at the Department of Agriculture. What are the best places to live in Washington?

The best places to live in Washington, D.C. are Forest Hills, Tenleytown, Foxhall Crescent, Hawthorne, and Columbia Heights.
Forest Hills: Also known Van Ness, Forest Hills is a well-to-do, safe, suburban neighborhood in the northwest part of D.C. It’s home to a number of foreign embassies (you wouldn’t have any interest in those, though). The area has an international flavor that mixes well with the colonial architecture that’s familiar to the area.
Tenleytown: Tenleytown is a family neighborhood that’s known for safe streets and highly rated schools. It’s close to the Metro and offers quick access to downtown D.C. There are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. One of those parks features a piece of Fort Reno, part of a fortification that was used to guard D.C. during the Civil War.
Foxhall Crescent: A welcome, calming spot in Northwest D.C., Foxhall Crescent is surrounded on three sides by parks—Glover-Archbold, Wesley Heights, and Battery Kemble. It’s a prosperous neighborhood that’s perfect for families, and it also is home to the Mount Vernon campus of George Washington University.
Hawthorne: Another comfortable D.C. spot, Hawthorne is full of green spaces and mature trees. The area is dominated by split-level and ranch-style homes, but there is a smattering of colonial, modern-style, and Cape Cod homes in the neighborhood, too.
Columbia Heights: For more of an urban feel, Columbia Heights is a great spot. You’ll find cool cafes, trendy restaurants, and eclectic shops on 11th Street. A mix of families, young professionals, and government workers reside here. There are also lots of shopping options close to the local Metro station.
