The Infiniti G35: Is it a good first car?

My neighbor wants to sell his Infiniti G35, and I’m also looking for my first ride since I moved to the suburbs. I’ve never purchased a car before, so I’m not sure if this is the right fit. Should I buy the Infiniti G35 as my first ride?

Although most people don’t opt for a luxury brand when they
buy their first car
, the Infiniti G35 might be a good first car—but with a few caveats.
First off, the
Infiniti G35
hasn’t been made since 2008. That means that most of them have over 100,000 miles and some even over 200,000 miles. This could lead to more problems down the road—especially ones that are bound to cost more than the vehicle itself—even if you keep up with a routine
car maintenance schedule
.
The other issue is that the G35 has a 260-horsepower engine, which could lead to higher
car insurance
costs and more power than a new driver can handle.
On the plus side, Infiniti is renowned for its reliability—even once its models get into the six-figure mileage range. In addition, the G35 has great visibility throughout the cabin, decent fuel economy (up to 25 mpg), a spacious trunk, and a low price—typically under $5,000.
