Is Utah a no-fault state?

Will I have to pay for the other person’s injuries after causing a car accident in Utah? I’ve heard of at-fault and no-fault states, but I don’t know about Utah’s accident laws.

Yes, Utah is a no-fault state. This means that even if you cause a car accident, everyone involved is responsible for covering their own medical expenses up to the limit of their own insurance policy.
Since Utah requires drivers to have at least $3,000 in
personal injury protection (PIP)
, all parties will have some immediate coverage, regardless of fault. Your bodily injury liability coverage will kick in once their PIP limits are exhausted.
If you or your frequent passengers do not have health insurance or have a high deductible health insurance policy, it is a good idea to increase your PIP coverage so that you don’t have to worry about medical expenses from a car accident. One less thing to worry about is always good!
After this accident, you may see an increase in your monthly
car insurance
premiums. To combat this, check out the
