Is a Jeep Wrangler a truck or SUV?

I’ve been shopping around online for a newer Jeep Wrangler, but my wife is insisting we need to get an SUV, not a truck, because it’s more practical. Is a Jeep Wrangler considered a truck or an SUV?

I can see why this is up for debate! A Jeep Wrangler is an SUV. Depending on the size of the Wrangler, it can be considered either a compact or midsize SUV.
Four-wheel drive (4WD) is standard fare on all Wranglers, which makes them one of the all-time great off-road vehicles. Between their off-road capabilities and utilitarian body style, it’s understandable why people mistake the Wrangler for a truck.
