Is a Ford Focus a good first car?

I’m finally ready to purchase my first car. But I’ll admit—I’m not really sure what I’m doing! My dad’s friend has a Ford Focus for sale on the cheap, but I’m not certain if it’s a good option for a first-time driver. Should I consider the Ford Focus as my first ride?

The Ford Focus is a decent first car, but it’s probably not the best option. The major downside to the Ford Focus is reliability.
While some Focus models can last seemingly forever, most hit major problems at around the 100,000-mile mark. Major engine repairs, transmission issues, or other problems may arise that can cost more than the price of the car itself.
Keep in mind that this doesn’t apply to every model. Models made in 2010, 2011, 2017, and 2018 get the best reliability scores, making them the
