Is a BMW 328I a Good First Car?

My grandson recently got his license, and I’d like to surprise him with a new car for Christmas. He loves BMWs, but I’m not sure if a BMW would make a great first car. Is a BMW 328i a good first car?

The BMW 328I is a more affordable BMW model compared to other models on BMWs lineup, but whether the BMW 328i is a good first car is up for debate, due to several factors like price.

There are plenty of other more affordable (and reliable) options, such as the Subaru Outback or the Hyundai Elantra. Both options are more affordable up front, have more affordable maintenance and repair costs, excellent safety ratings, and more affordable insurance options.

Unless driving in luxury is a top priority, the BMW 328i is probably not the best first car option on the market. We recommend going with a more affordable, reliable, and equally safe option, such as the options we listed above.
