How should I travel with plants in a car?

I’m in the process of moving to a new apartment a few hours away, and I only have two or three trips left to make. On one of the trips, I’ll have all my houseplants with me, but I’m not sure how to transport them. What’s the best way to travel with plants in a car?

Congratulations on the new apartment! I’m sure your plants will love their new home, but getting them there safely can undoubtedly be a challenge.
To travel with plants in a car, you should:
  • Find the right spot for your plants. Typically, the backseat or footwells are the most secure areas and limit the chance of your plants falling over. Additionally, plants get more sunlight and fresh air in the backseat compared to the trunk.
  • Use plastic bags to protect the interior of your car. The bags can either be wrapped around the plant bases or laid down on the floor of your vehicle.
  • Use cardboard boxes to transport the plants and bring towels to pack around the pots to avoid having them slide around or tip over.
  • Use bed sheets or tissue paper to wrap plants with branches that could break or be damaged while traveling.
  • Secure your plants using a seatbelt or secured strap if possible.
Additionally, don’t forget to inform your

company that you have moved so they can update your policy.
