How often can you change home insurance?

I’ve been with my current home insurance provider for a year. I just got my renewal notice, and it looks like my premium is increasing. I’m considering changing companies, but I’m not sure if it’ll hurt my credit. How often can you change home insurance companies?

The truth is, you can change up your
homeowners insurance
as often as you want—and most experts recommend shopping for rates at every policy renewal.
Since insurance rates are prone to change frequently, you don’t always benefit from staying with the same provider. In fact, reviewing your options for insurance prior to renewing your policy can help ensure that you’re always getting the best rate for the coverage you need.
That’s why personal finance experts recommend gathering new quotes every one to two years. And as long as you aren’t filing claims with each new insurer, you shouldn’t see any negative effects from switching insurance companies or looking into lower rates.
You also don’t have to wait until your policy renews to switch providers (although it’s easier if you do). If you’re unhappy with your homeowner’s policy, you have the ability to change your coverage or insurer at any time.
