How much will the Mazda 3 depreciate?

My friend claims her Mazda 3 won’t depreciate very much in the next few years, but that doesn’t sound right to me. From my understanding, every car depreciates a huge amount after even the first year of owning it! How much can we expect the Mazda 3 to depreciate?

The
Mazda 3
is a great ride with incredible specs and a relatively low cost. Unfortunately, the Mazda 3 also depreciates by 48% in 5 years—meaning it doesn’t retain its value very well over time.
Nowadays, the average depreciation rate of cars in the United States is about 8% per year. While that may not seem like a lot, it means that most cars will lose nearly half their value after six years.
The Mazda 3 is actually a little unique in the way it depreciates. For the first three years the Mazda 3 only depreciates by about 7% per year. But there’s a sharp drop after the fourth year that makes it depreciate faster than most other cars.
While it may not retain its value, the Mazda 3 is still a reliable car that can last you a while! It’s
low-maintenance
, has great mileage, and can sometimes last up to 300,000 miles! If you decide to buy a Mazda 3, you can also offset the cost of depreciation by saving on car insurance with
