How many Volvo C30s were made?

Until I stumbled across one on a seller’s ad and looked it up, I didn’t even realize Volvo had an electric car in the 2000s. How many Volvo C30s were made?

During the
Volvo C30’s
eight-year production run, around 192,000 units were made. Production peaked between 2007 and 2008, when over 53,000 C30s were manufactured. Unsurprisingly, C30 sales also peaked in this same year. In the following year, production dropped to around 40,000 units—and those numbers continued to decline until the C30’s discontinuation just four years later.
A sleek and sporty compact coupe, the Volvo C30 debuted in North America in 2008, although it hit international markets as early as 2007. Marketed as a premium sports coupe (for two-door models) and a premium hatchback (for three-doors), the C30 didn’t just promise style and speed—it was Volvo’s first electric car to hit the market.
Underneath the C30’s hood is a four-cylinder flex-fuel engine, which works in tandem with electric motors attached to each wheel. With a battery range of approximately 62 miles, the C30 wasn’t exactly competing with

in its time–but it was a surprisingly fuel-efficient hybrid vehicle. Today, you can still find second-hand C30s for sale—although prices can vary significantly based on model year (with older models selling for less).
