How many points can you miss on the driving test?

I have to take my driving test in Minnesota next week and I’m a little nervous that I won’t pass. How many points do you have to miss in order to fail? It’ll help me a lot to know what to expect in advance.

Taking your first driving exam can be really nerve-wracking, but try not to be too nervous! In Minnesota, you’ll begin the driving test with *100 total points**, and you’ll be allowed to miss 20 of them before you fail.
Some things that you can do to increase your chances of passing your exam include:
  • Checking your mirrors frequently
  • Yielding to pedestrians
  • Coming to a complete stop at every stop sign
  • Signaling before changing lanes, turning, or parallel parking
  • Maintaining the
    proper speed
(not too slow, not too fast)
  • Keeping both hands on the wheel
  • Leaving your phone at home or turning it off so that it doesn’t distract you
If you’re able to do all of these things, you’ll be much more likely to pass your driving test without a hitch.
