I remember hearing about the Nissan Murano convertible when it first came out. It seemed like a very odd direction for the model. How many Nissan Murano convertibles were actually made?

That’s a difficult question to answer, as the production records for the Nissan Murano convertible—officially called the CrossCabriolet—are lumped in with all other Nissan Murano submodels. For this reason, a better question to ask would be how many Nissan Murano convertibles were sold.
Between 2011 and 2013, the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet saw less than 6,000 units sold in North America, with 2012 seeing over half of those sales. The official numbers for each year are as follows:
2011—1,159
2012—3,278
2013—1,332
All in all, the Nissan Murano convertible was an oddball that simply didn’t catch on, leading to its discontinuation in 2014. It was an interesting concept, though, being (as Nissan proudly said) the first all-wheel drive crossover convertible to hit the market.
