How many Ford RS200s were made?

I’m a huge fan of rally cars, and I had no idea that Ford ever got into the rally game. I recently learned about the Ford RS200, and I would love to see if I can get my hands on one. How many Ford RS200s were actually made?

Ford
only manufactured about 200 RS200s, so you’ll have your work cut out for you if you’re hoping to pick one up. Of the 200 built, 24 were kitted out for racing—these are called RS200 Evolution models.
The RS200 Evolution features everything a rally racer needs to lead the pack, including:
  • A 600-horsepower, 2.1-liter turbocharged Cosworth inline-4 engine
  • Lightweight fiberglass composite bodywork
  • An F1 chassis and upgraded suspension
In addition to these upgrades, the RS200 Evolution’s engine and transmission were mounted specifically to create one of the most perfectly balanced platforms on the rally track. All told, the RS200 evolution was one of the fastest accelerating cars on the planet in 1986, rocketing from 0 to 60 in just over 3 seconds.
A Ford RS200 just sold for over $500,000 in early 2021, so we hope you’re prepared to drop some serious cash for both your purchase and your
car insurance
if you’re able to find another of these rally racers for sale.
