How many Ford Musteros were made?

I’m writing a paper about the evolution of the Ford Mustang and came across a photo of a super limited edition modified version called the Mustero that looks like it’s from the 70s. How many Musteros were produced?

It’s true, Mustang has done its fair share of evolving. 50 Ford Musteros were made back in 1966—just one year after the
Ford Mustang
debuted. Mustangs became popular so quickly that Ford began experimenting with different body styles for this now classic sports car.
One such creation was the Ford Mustero, a cross between the Mustang and the Ranchero, a low-riding pickup truck with a car-like body style that was produced from 1957 to 1979. Beverly Hills Ford was tasked with designing the first Mustero.
Sadly, only 50 Musteros were produced due to the impractical addition of a fiberglass bed and the unreasonable $6,500 price increase. As a result, the Mustero is one of the rarest cars—there’s thought to be an estimated one to four still in existence today!
Because of how rare Musteros are, those lucky owners must drive them on special occasions—which is typically the case for drivers who collect vintage and antique cars. To protect their assets, they likely opt for
classic car insurance
which comes with lower premiums, a mileage cap, and pays the vehicle’s appraised value.
So, if you’re ever thinking of starting a collection—keep
car insurance
in mind!
