How many 1969 Dodge Daytonas were made?
I heard the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona was one the most valuable muscle cars, but how many of them were made originally?

You heard correctly! Not many 1969 Dodge Charger Daytonas were made—in fact, just 503 models were produced—but some sources estimate the number is closer to 550.
So if it’s such a great car, why did Dodge produce so few of them? The car wasn’t exactly created to be an average daily driver. In fact, this muscle car was specifically made to race in NASCAR. In order to qualify, though, the Dodge Daytona had to meet “homologation” requirements—which means 500 units had to be produced.
The 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona wasn’t originally planned to be the NASCAR superstar. The now-iconic 1969 Dodge Charger 500 was the brand’s intended golden goose, but the two cars were created around the same time. When it became apparent that the Charger Daytona’s aerodynamic frame was faster, Dodge switched gears to focus on the quicker car.
Of the 500ish units that were produced, just 70 of them were fitted with the ultra-powerful 426 Hemi engine. With such a small production number comes a higher value, so a well-kept Charger Daytona could cost up to $770,000! Average values hover closer to $250,000, but the cost depends on the car’s engine type and condition.
