How long will it take to charge a Tesla Model S?
I just got a new Tesla Model S, and I’m over the moon! My friends and I have a long-standing tradition of road-tripping across the country, and I’m afraid my Tesla might take too long to charge. (I could always ride with someone else, but it’s not quite the same.) How long will it take to charge my Tesla Model S?

Congratulations on your new car, and good question! I’m happy to say that a Tesla Model S takes 30-80 minutes to charge from approximately 20-80% at a public charging station—so as long as you’re road tripping in areas that have public charging stations available, you should be fine to drive.
The
Tesla Model S
is compatible with the rapid charging option at public charging stations, so as long as you keep your tank from hitting Empty and you can find public charging stations, you should be able to quickly charge your car. If you’re unable to find a public charging station, you can still plug your car into a three-pin outlet overnight. However, it’s important to note that without rapid charging, it can take up to 44 hours for your Tesla to fully charge—so it’s a good idea to plan your route carefully.While you’re planning your road trip, it’s also a good idea to review your car insurance policy.
