How long is it to drive 35 miles?
I’m shopping for a house and I found a great deal on one. The only problem is that it’s about 35 miles outside the city where I work. How long would it take to drive 35 miles?

Buying a house means you might have to make a few concessions—a longer commute time is definitely one of them. How long 35 miles driving takes depends on your speed and traffic, but expect a commute of anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or longer.
If you can drive on the highway at higher speeds, your commute will be considerably shorter. But add in construction zones, traffic, or driving on city streets with lower speed limits and the time starts to add up.
For a better idea of how long your drive will take, here are some average speeds and how long it takes to go 35 miles:
- 35 miles at 35 mph: 1 hour
- 35 miles at 40 mph: 52 minutes, 30 seconds
- 35 miles at 45 mph: 46 minutes, 40 seconds
- 35 miles at 50 mph: 42 minutes
- 35 miles at 60 mph: 35 minutes
