How long does it take to replace a starter?
I’m at the repair shop for some routine maintenance and they just told me that they need to replace my starter. Can you tell me how long it takes to replace a starter?

Exactly how long it takes to replace a starter will depend on where it is in your engine, but it will generally take around 2 to 4 hours.
Some starters are more accessible in some engines than in others. A mechanic may have to dig around and remove certain parts to get to that starter. If that’s the case, you’re probably looking more at a 4 hour time frame than a 2 hour one.
