Do all electric cars have a clutch?
I currently drive a manual transmission with a clutch and am buying a new car. Are there any manual electric vehicles out there?

Great question! All electric vehicles are automatic, meaning that none of them have or require a clutch. This might be a tough change for those who love their manual transmission.
In truth, there is no reason why an electric vehicle would need a clutch and manual transmission, even if you were to install one. An electric car can achieve higher revs than a standard fuel engine, and doesn’t even contain a gearbox, since one isn’t needed in order for an electric car to run properly.
Since electric vehicles don’t require the assistance of a clutch in order to shift from lower gears to higher gears, there’s simply no need to create a manual transmission in an electric car, unless one was installed just for show or for aesthetic purposes.
So while the feel and familiarity of a manual transmission may be preferred by some drivers, there’s just no point in having one installed in an electric car.
Still, if you’re looking for an
inexpensive electric upgrade
for your current manual transmission vehicle, they are out there. And, if you decide that it’s time to trade in your old manual transmission for an electric vehicle, there will be no need to compare manual and automatic models, since there are no manual electric vehicles.
