How long does it take to replace a lost driving license?

I lost my driver’s license when I went to the beach and now I need to get a new one. How long does replacing a driver’s license take?

Sorry to hear about your driver’s license. The silver lining is that replacing it is relatively easy.
Depending on where you live, you may be able to replace a lost driving license the same day—or it could take up to six weeks.
Some states have the ability to print a new driver’s license on the spot. Just visit your local DMV and tell the clerk what happened. You will need to pay a fee for the replacement and provide some additional documentation, which may include a:
  • Utility bill
  • Passport
  • Social Security card
  • Birth certificate
If the DMV can’t replace your license then and there, they usually give you a temporary license. This is simply a piece of paper that you can put in your wallet or purse until your new license arrives in four to six weeks.
Spend your time waiting in line at the DMV productively by downloading the
