How long does an Acura TL battery last?

I just bought my friend’s used Acura, and I’m trying to get a sense of what maintenance I’ll have to do with it maintenance-wise. He mentioned to me that he had just replaced the battery last year—but I’ve heard the batteries in these things have super short lifespans. How long does an Acura TL battery last?

Oh—great question! There has been some confusion about the
TL’s battery drain issue
. To clarify, the problem is isolated to the 2008 version of the TL. Unless yours happens to be an ‘08, you shouldn’t need to worry about it.
Otherwise, an
Acura TL
battery lasts for 3-5 years, depending on care and conditions. This is pretty much on par with most other car batteries.
If your friend replaced the battery a year ago, then the soonest you’d need a new one is two years from now.
A much more urgent matter for your new Acura is the need to get it insured. If you’re dreading the process of looking for
