How do you switch car insurance companies?

How do you switch from one insurance company to another? I don't like the coverage on my current car insurance policy and want to go with a new company.

“If you’d like to switch
car insurance companies
, you’ll first want to find a company that you like.
To do this, you can request
car insurance quotes online
to find a policy and coverages that best fit your needs. You’ll want to shop around with a few different insurance providers to make sure you’re getting the best rate.
Once you select a new policy and provider, you’ll want to inform your current insurance company that you’ll be switching. Although you can cancel an insurance policy at any time, be aware that some companies charge cancellation fees if you end your policy midterm. So you may want to wait until your current policy is about to expire to make the switch.
After informing your current insurance company, you can purchase your new policy. Depending on the company, they may offer to cancel the old policy for you. If not, you’ll want to cancel directly with your current insurance company. Just be sure to wait to cancel until you’ve started your new policy, as you don’t want a
lapse in insurance
