How do you start driving again after a long break?

I lived in New York City for the past six years and I haven’t driven since then. Recently, my job went fully remote, so I’m moving to Burlington, Vermont, to save money. What are some tips to help me start driving again after a long break?

Congratulations on the move to Vermont! It’s far more rural and suburban, but getting back in the saddle should be easy if you apply a few of these steps:
  • Start slow.
  • Keep your speed low until you feel like you have control of the vehicle.
  • Adjust your seat and mirrors.
  • Drive on backroads and less-trafficked roads so you aren’t nervous.
