Absolutely! You can renew your license online in New York state by visiting the New York DMV portal and selecting Renew License Online. If any of the following apply, however, then you’ll need to renew in person instead:
- You don’t have an Enhanced or Real ID yet
- You have a commercial license
- You need a vision test and cannot obtain one from an approved provider outside of the DMV
- You need to change personal information on your license, such as your name or address.
- Your license has expired for over two years
