How do you register a car in Maryland?

I just bought a car, after not owning one for the past 30 years, and am a bit rusty on what I have to do as a car owner. I asked a friend and he said I need to get it registered, but how do you register a car in Maryland?

Congratulations on your new car!
To register your new car in
Maryland
, you will have to visit the Maryland Vehicle Administration (MVA) and provide the following:
  • Completed Certificate of Title application
  • Car insurance information
  • Ownership documents like the title or bill of sale
  • Odometer reading
  • A Maryland Safety Inspection Certificate
  • Lienholder information (if the vehicle is financed)
  • Payment for any registration fee
You cannot complete the registration online, but you can find copies of the paperwork on the MVA’s website and can even begin the application online.
