How do you put a Mazda 3 in neutral with a dead battery?

My Mazda 3’s battery died last night, and now I need to push the car out of the garage so we can jump it with my sister’s car. But I can’t turn the car on, so I can’t shift it out of park and into neutral. Could you please explain how to put a Mazda 3 in neutral with a dead battery?

No problem, we’re always happy to help! And you’re in luck, because shifting your Mazda 3 into neutral with a dead battery is actually pretty simple, at least compared with some other cars. All you really need is a flat head screwdriver to get this particular job done.
First, we should note that if your battery is drained and your key fob isn’t working, your fob contains a secret physical key that will unlock the door and the trunk. Just press the little button on your key fob to get your key.
Once you’re inside the car, look for a small plastic cover near your shifter. In some model years you’ll find it on the left side, while some have it on the right. Find that little cover and pry it off using your flat head screwdriver.
Next, gently put the screwdriver into the hole and feel around for a little button. Push that button down, and you should now be able to shift the car into neutral. Once you’re all done, remember to put the cap back on by pushing it into place. And that’s it, you’re all set!
Once you know how to put a Mazda 3 in neutral with a dead battery, the process is pretty simple. What’s not so simple is figuring out how to lower your

without some help.
