How do you program a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee garage door opener?
I just bought a Jeep and was told by the dealership that it comes with the HomeLink system, which I can program to open my garage door. How do you program a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee garage door opener?
garage door opener is pretty straightforward, but it takes a few steps.
Before you program:
Locate the HomeLink buttons in your Jeep. The HomeLink buttons are either on your sun visor or the overhead console. There are three buttons, each with 1 to 3 lines on them.
Determine whether you have a newer (rolling code) automatic garage door opener with a “Learn” or “Train” button. Inspect your garage door motor. Look for a button that reads either “Learn” or “Train.” If you can’t find such a button, you likely have an older, non-rolling code type of opener.
Place new batteries in your handheld opener.
If you have an older garage door opener:
Park just outside your garage.
Clear the memory in your HomeLink system by holding down the two outer buttons on the HomeLink console until the indicator light flashes rapidly.
Put your engine switch in the run position, but don’t start the engine. Hold your handheld opener 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink console.
Press and hold the button on your handheld unit and simultaneously hold down the button on the HomeLink console that you want that unit to correspond with. The indicator light on your HomeLink console should begin to flash slowly.
As the handheld unit syncs with the HomeLink console, you will see the indicator light on the HomeLink console begin to flash more quickly. This is a good sign that you’re done.
If you have a new garage door opener with a “learn” or “train” button, perform all the steps listed above, then:
Get out of the vehicle and go to the garage door opener’s motor. Firmly push and then release the “Learn” or “Train” button. You have 30 seconds to complete the next step.
Return to your vehicle and press the HomeLink button you want to program twice, holding the button for 2 seconds each time.
If you press the HomeLink button you have programmed and it opens/closes the garage door, you’re done! If not, you may have to push the button a third time. See whether that works.
The first time you program your Jeep’s HomeLink system to link up with your garage door opener, you may need a bit of help. But then the process becomes simple. Too bad shopping for
