, you’ll need to shut off your Caddy’s engine and find your way to the fuel tank door. Then, simply apply some pressure to the rear edge of the gas tank door, and it should pop open for you.Cadillac has made opening the fuel tank door “easier”, but that has, in turn, led to a lot of confusion, and you’re not the first person to ask this question by a long shot. This spring-loaded latch design has come to replace the traditional gas tank door release lever found on previous Cadillac models.
When you’re done filling your tank, be mindful to replace the gas cap and tighten it well. A loose gas cap can cause the
check engine warning light
or check fuel cap light to come on. If that happens, try tightening the gas cap.Since this is the first time fuelling up your
Cadillac
, check your owner’s manual ahead of time to ensure you select the best fuel grade. While Cadillac states drivers can use gas with an octane rating of 87, it can cause lag in acceleration. They recommend using a premium unleaded gas rated 91 or higher for best performance.
