So sorry to hear about your AC, but it’s definitely fixable! To get rid of the smell, focus on cleaning the four following areas:
Wipe the vents clean. Using a foam brush, work your way in and around the vents to remove as much gunk as you can.
Clean the cabin filter. Pull it out from behind the glove compartment and use an air compressor to blow the dust off. When finished, make sure to spray it with a deodorizer or disinfectant.
Brush or wipe the fans. Wait until the engine has been off for a while, and then pop the hood and look for the air conditioner’s condenser fan which is usually around the condenser. If reachable, wipe the blade. Removing it is better but make sure you know how to put it back.
Spray the condenser. If accessible, spraying it with water can really help. Just be careful not to wet any of the wires around it!
